Foreign students can't stay back to work

After studying in Malaysia for 3-5 years, most foreign students are not able to stay back to work and contribute to the startup scene. We are losing good resources

To be fair, from my personal experience (we hire a number of foreign grads ourselves) - the government do issue out EP (employment pass) to foreign students who came right out of school with the condition
  • they have minimum Bach Degree
  • they have working experience (even internships here and there is good enough)
  • their min salary is set at RM2.5k
If the employer has MSC status - is best as you can go direct to MDeC to help you with the application. They are super efficient in this and really are one of the best benefit you get after getting MSC status. Going through immigration directly yourself is a PAINFUL process (which i went through and wished non have to go through). [TIP: if dont have MSC status, you might want to try out TalentCorp as they might also be able to help]

Hi Edwin,

i have tried both
MDEC and TalentCorp. Both said that one criteria is min $250k paid up capital. Which is quite hard for startups.
Have not heard of that requirement before. Maybe you are not an MSC status company?
I  am not MSC status co :(
they can; get an msc status; i got mine in 6 months; if you are persistent i'havr known those that get it im 3 mths too; my employees get their visa within 2 weeks of arrival;
Wow! That's good to know. Thanks

Once called the Talent Corp. Nothing useful for that name. Said only want Malaysian people working in foreign place, not foreign talent working in Malaysia or the world. Might thought of asking them to change their name to "Malaysian Foreign Remittance" kind of stuff so that not to misunderstood.
