The cost to register a company in MY is a lot higher and more tedious than in SG

The requirement to have a cosec increases initial and on-going costs. Plus all the paperwork is too troublesome for a startup in the early / validation stages. In SG, you can do it quickly online and at more than half the cost. No wonder we're bleeding startups across the border.
You can register a LLP (limited liability partnership) which almost same as a Sdn Bhd but without the requirement for CoSec and audited accounts. Cost $500 to register.
hmm, frankly, if your team aren't committed to have a LLC despite they can afford to do so, is a big signal your team is in trouble. LLC is signalling you are serious, they are serious, and they might not want to disappoint you.

One can argue that at the validation stage, we shouldn't be spending so much money on something with little value add (this includes filing for IPs). But at the same time you need to register to accept payments, etc.
Try to get advice from an experience veteran. Knowledge dictates we can register company, but experience dictates what we can do with it. Once the company registered, we will need to keep a set of documents, formalise the payment and stuff. This need to be taken care of. Try to comprehend the cost of time and focus before thinking it in term of monetary.
